As a person who suffered with stammering all throughout childhood…

…and still on occasion, I can quite confidently say:

That it is completely humiliating.

As a child especially I felt so deeply embarrassed and ashamed.

I can still remember, going back to 1st grade (and for context I am about to be 38) every time, ever, in my life I was made fun of for it.

It hurt immensely.

Here are the homeopathic remedies traditionally associated with stammering:

1. Bovista

The most common remedy for promoting verbal fluency in children. Often there can be issues with yeast/candida, and may have behavioral issues that are worse with gluten.

2. Stramonium

May have issues with exerting before speaking, or on the initial syllables. May also have issues with waking at night crying out, or even night terrors. In extreme instances may also have sensory issues and an interest in darker things.

3. Lycopodium

Often the stammering happens on the last words of a sentence. Typically those needing this are exceptionally bossy, or even dictatorial (in children especially). May be issues with gas or bloating, and commonly theres a daily issue of some sort (even if just worse mood) between 4-8pm.

4. Spigelia

Typically the stammering is on the first few letters or words, followed by very clear and fluid speech. May have an issue of some sort around 5pm daily, can have issues with belly pain that is centered on the belly button region. Possible parasite issue, too.

5. Causticum

Often this is described as a type of “verbal mis-match” of making mistakes while speaking in the form of using the wrong word. The type needing this may have issues with bedwetting, various fears, and a strong sense of fairness or justice.

6. Gelsemium

For issues after being exposed to a virus. They may be very low energy or prone to lethargy/fatigue. May also have an anxious personality especially with future events/anticipatory anxiety.

7. Staphysagria

In those benefitting from this stammering usually happens when talking to strangers. Often this is a type with suppressed anger that can boil up into explosions with suddenly throwing something, etc. May have urinary issues.

8. Bufo

For stammering that happens when one is extremely angry. May be issues present with developmental delays, genetic conditions, or cognition. Or could have a desire to be alone to masturbate.

9. Lac Caninum

This type may stammer from talking fast, often has issues with very low confidence. There could be a history of suppressed strep and a desire to people please (especially their family).

10. Merc Sol or Merc Viv

A stammer arising from a hesitancy to speak. There may also be issues with suppressed strep (compare Lac Caninum), drooling, and bad breath.

11. Calc Carb

May stammer from feeling like their tongue is thick. May have weight issues present and MTHFR, could have a desire for eggs, with a head that often sweats a lot at night.
