So, you have a headache.

Whereas the usual mindset when you have a headache is a mere one size all–

In homeopathy, let’s just say things get quite a bit more specific.

Is it a congested headache?

A throbbing headache?

Does it feel something is piercing your head?

Is it on the left side? The right?

Is it worse in the sun? From artificial light?

Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

In homeopathy, literally all of those things (and a whole lot more) could be used to fine tune the quality of the headache, and there is a whole massive range of very specific remedies that could best fit and alleviate it.

Here are a few of homeopathic remedies traditionally associated with headaches:

Safety Note: While we explore traditional support for comfort, any new, severe, or worsening headache should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. Seek immediate medical care if a headache is accompanied by a stiff neck, high fever, confusion, vision changes, or if it follows a head injury.

This remedy features a constitution that is prone to dryness, so it is no surprise really that this the type of headache that is actually worse from, or even caused by, the sun. Light as a whole can be quite irritating, and lying down in the dark can help to relieve it. It is usually known as beginning with a tingling sensation on the face or lips. It typically feels like a very intense throbbing, or what has been stated as being like if “a thousand little hammers were knocking on the brain”.

2. Belladonna

A remedy for very severe and painful headaches, that come on very suddenly, and also end just as suddenly. Belladonna is typically denoted by a feeling of intense pulsating throbbing pain. As with all things Belladonna, there can be an intense sensitivity to light, and anything that engages the five senses. During the duration of this the face may feel hot with dilated pupils. This type may feel relief from sitting up or standing.

3. Glonoinum

Glonoinum features a congestive headache that can start with a wave of heat, and just feel like the whole head is pulsating and pounding between the temples. With this type of headache holding the head may help it to feel better, and heat makes it feel worse.

4. Lachesis

Lachesis is often indicated by headaches associated with the menstrual cycle, often worsening up until the flow begins- and then improving once it actually starts. May also have an exceptional bad mood and prone to saying mean things.
